About Word Guess

Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries — ✓ means right spot, ○ means right letter, wrong spot. New puzzle every day! This free word games activity is built for older adults who want clear, readable browser-based games without sign-up friction.

Word games are useful for vocabulary, reading confidence, and language-focused problem-solving at a comfortable pace. You can play at your own pace, replay the challenge, and use it as part of a regular routine for light mental exercise.

How to play Word Guess

About 5 minutes per game. Step-by-step rules, in plain English.

  1. Type any five-letter word

Start with a word that uses common letters — something like HOUSE, TRAIN, or SLATE. Use the on-screen keyboard or your own keyboard, then press Enter.

  2. Read the colored tiles

A green tile with a ✓ means that letter is in the right spot. A gold tile with a ○ means the letter is in the word but in a different spot. A dark tile means the letter isn't in the word at all.

  3. Use the clues in your next guess

Keep green letters where they are, move gold letters to new positions, and avoid dark letters. The on-screen keyboard remembers every clue for you.

  4. Watch out for repeated letters

Words can contain the same letter twice (like APPLE). A letter only lights up as many times as it appears in the answer.

  5. Solve it within six guesses

You have six tries. Unknown words are rejected gently and never cost you a guess.
