How to play Starlight Pictures

Choose your picture size
Start with a 4 × 4 picture on Gentle, a 5 × 5 picture on Standard, or a 6 × 6 picture on Challenge. There is no timer.
Read the number clues
The numbers beside each row and column give the lengths of filled groups in order. A clue of 2, 1 means two filled squares, at least one empty square, then one filled square. Extra empty squares may appear before, between or after the groups.
Fill squares and mark spaces
Choose Fill, then tap a square to fill it. Choose Mark X to note a square you believe is empty, or Erase to clear a choice. Use the row and column clues together to decide what fits.
Reveal the picture
Finish by filling every square in the picture and leaving the other squares unfilled. X marks are optional. A little hint and Undo can help when you get stuck, and progress saves in this browser when browser storage is available.

Is Starlight Pictures a nonogram?
Yes. It is a small picture-logic puzzle, also called a nonogram. Number clues describe groups of filled squares. Combining the row and column clues reveals a picture.
Do I need to mark every empty square with an X?
No. X marks are optional notes to help you keep track. The puzzle finishes when every picture square is filled and no extra squares are filled.
What does a clue of 0 mean?
A 0 means the whole row or column is empty. Leave those squares unfilled; you can mark them with X if that helps you solve the other clues.
