About Yahtzee

Classic five-dice game! Roll, hold, and reroll to fill 13 scoring categories — bonus 35 if your upper section reaches 63. This free memory games activity is built for older adults who want clear, readable browser-based games without sign-up friction.

Memory games support focus, short-term recall, and pattern recognition with visual and logic-based challenges. You can play at your own pace, replay the challenge, and use it as part of a regular routine for light mental exercise.

How to play Yahtzee

About 10 minutes per game. Step-by-step rules, in plain English.

  1. Roll all five dice

Each turn begins by rolling all five dice. You'll have up to three rolls per turn.

  2. Hold the dice you want to keep

After each roll, tap any dice to set them aside. The remaining dice will be rerolled when you press Roll again.

  3. Score in one of 13 categories

After your final roll (or earlier if you're satisfied), assign your dice to one of the 13 scoring categories. Each category can only be used once per game.

  4. Aim for the upper-section bonus

If your six upper-section scores (Aces through Sixes) total 63 or more, you earn a +35 bonus. Three of each number gets you exactly to 63.

  5. Use the Yahtzee Joker rule for extra Yahtzees

If you roll a Yahtzee after already scoring 50 in your Yahtzee box, you get a 100-point bonus and can use that roll in any other open category as if it qualifies.

  6. Finish all 13 turns to total the score

After all 13 categories are filled, the upper section, bonus, and lower section are added together for your final score.
