How to play Tri-Peaks Solitaire
About 5 minutes per game. Step-by-step rules, in plain English.
Look at the layout
28 cards form three pyramid peaks. Only uncovered cards are face-up and playable; the bottom row starts fully available. One card sits face-up on the waste pile, and 23 cards wait in the stock.
Play cards one rank above or below the waste card
Tap any face-up card that's exactly one rank higher or lower than the waste card — suit doesn't matter. A 7 plays on a 6 or an 8.
Remember the King-Ace wraparound
King and Ace connect: an Ace plays on a King, and a King plays on an Ace. This often rescues a stuck run.
Build long runs for bonus points
Each card played in a row grows your run. From the third card onward, every consecutive play earns escalating bonus points.
Draw from the stock when stuck
Tap the stock pile to turn over a new waste card. This resets your run, so squeeze out every play first.
Clear all three peaks to win
Remove all 28 cards before the stock runs dry. Undo and Hint are there whenever you need them.
Frequently asked questions
Is Tri-Peaks Solitaire free to play online?
Yes. SeniorBrainGames offers Tri-Peaks completely free with large cards, tap-to-play controls, unlimited undo, and hints. No signup, and it works offline once loaded.
Can a King be played on an Ace in Tri-Peaks?
Yes — ranks wrap around. A King plays on an Ace and an Ace plays on a King. Suits and colors don't matter in Tri-Peaks, only rank.
What's the best Tri-Peaks strategy?
Before drawing from the stock, look for the longest possible chain of plays — runs earn escalating bonuses. Prefer moves that uncover face-down cards, especially ones high up a peak, and try to keep all three peaks progressing evenly.
Is every Tri-Peaks deal winnable?
No — like most solitaires, some shuffles can't be beaten. Around 90% of deals are winnable with careful play, so an occasional loss is the deal's fault, not yours. Undo lets you back up and try a different path.
